Jesse Owens in Berlin (05.04)

Jesse Owens again on a visit to Berlin in 1964 and tells of his experiences during the Olympic Games of 1936. In Germany, the Nazis portrayed African Americans as inferior and ridiculed the United States, relying on "black auxiliaries." A German official even complained that the Americans have "non-humans, like Owens and other Negro athletes" to compete. But the German people felt otherwise. Crowds cheered him of 110000 in the glittering Olympic Stadium in Berlin and his autograph or photograph wassought, as he walked through the streets.
