Chess is one of the most enduring and popular games in human history. The first written mention of the chess game is displayed in the Persian documents from the fifth century AD. Early Persian References to the game seem to indicate that it was invented in India. The Persian poet Firdausi wrote of an Indian king called Gav, who used to relive past battles.

The Persian word for the chess game Shatranj, also provides evidence that it was invented in India. This is because itsRoot seems to derive from an Indian Sanskrit word, which is reflected in the four divisions of the Army, infantry, cavalry, elephants, and cars. The Arab historian Abu al-Hasan 'Al + Al + Mas'kd also confirms the idea that chess was invented in India, providing detailed scientific information about how it was used in their society.

The game spread around the world relatively quickly, and by 800 CE, a variation of it had reached China.

The exact rulesand the nature of the pieces constantly evolving and changing, and it was always played in several different versions of chess in different regions of the world. Basic concepts such as the checkered board, and the layout of the pieces appear to have been preserved, but the exact rules of the movement and the nature of the armies varied wildly. In this old world, chess was often of warriors and nobles as a way to teach strategy and used to promote military thinking. In thisSo it was a training tool for commanders, which they helped develop strategic thinking skills.

The game of chess reached Europe through various routes, including trade with various countries in the East. During the Muslim invasion of Spain in the game quickly spread and penetrated in most of the European world.

European views of the game were mixed. Among the noble it was for chivalry and honor to teach on the battlefield. A kind of moral lesson, just oneto encourage a person, a noble warrior. But in the restrictive religious temperament of the age, it was game seen as sinful, and was associated with playing cards and games such as the dice. Chess in Europe started to take on its modern origin, slightly to the rules, the game seems more like it is now changed. Since the rules were codified, they spread throughout Europe, and started a single version of chess, played the dominant formthroughout the region.

In the next few centuries in Europe was the dominant power and began to colonize much of the rest of the world. As they did, the European version of chess back to countries that had played the game spread for centuries. The standardization of the rules of chess was encouraged by the development of leagues, tournaments and rankings. Players who wanted attention at the international level, had standardized European chess play to compete.
